Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney: North Carolina Advocates for Justice



Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, has been practicing law for thirty-three years. He is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, attended its public schools as a youth, and has served on its City Council. Today, he practices law from an office in downtown Greensboro.

As a practicing member of Greensboro's legal community, Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, has membership in many professional associations. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, and the North Carolina Association of Municipal Attorneys.
 
Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, is also a member of the Greensboro Bar Association, which during its sixty-three year history has sought to represent the American legal system's values of individual freedom, dignity, the right to due process, and equal protection under the law.

He is also a member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. The NCAJ, Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, says, is a four thousand-member organization that protects individual rights in North Carolina. It represents people who have been injured by the wrongdoing of others, workers who are fighting for their rights in the workplace, the disabled,  and people who have been accused of committing crimes. Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, holds a Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University. He also attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and American University in Washington, where he received a Master in Public Administration in 1976.

Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney: Greensboro City Council



Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, practices law in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he has spent most of his life. He was born and grew up there, received his education in Greensboro and several North Carolina Institutions, and spent fourteen years as a member of the Greensboro City Council. He was t he city’s Mayor Pro Tem for two terms. Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, also served for four years in the North Carolina State Senate.


After graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, received a Lectureship to the School of Government and Public Administration at American University in Washington DC, where he taught undergraduate political science and attended graduate school. Senator Robert Morgan hired him as his legislative clerk, and he served the Senator for two years before returning to law school at Wake Forest University School of Law. He made the Wake Forest Law Review and received a North Carolina scholarship.

Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, has always been an active member of his community. He was appointed to the North Carolina Courts Commission and has served on the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's Board of Visitors. 

Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, is also a member of the Greensboro Rotary Club, and a Fellow at the Institute of Political Leadership. He has been a Board Member of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and the Greensboro Merchants Association, and sat on the Greensboro Sports Council. He is also a Sunday School Teacher at the Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney: Teaching the Constitution



Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, is a strong advocate of the free enterprise system in the United States. He worked in the private sector for several years in the 1980s as the Vice President of the Stedman Corporation, a North Carolina-based textile and apparel manufacturer. 

But Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, has spent most of his career either in the private practice of law, or in politics. He is a former City Council member in Greensboro, where he was first elected in 1991, and he served two terms as Greensboro's Mayor Pro Tem. His wife also served on the Greensboro City Council, and is now the Mayor of Greensboro.

Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, was elected to the North Carolina State Senate and served there for four years, from 2008 to 2012. During that time he supported an animal rights bill knows as Susie's Law that imposes stronger penalties for people convicted of animal abuse charges. He says that Susie's Law is about more than just animals, however, noting, "those that abuse pets will abuse their mates."

Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, also helped enact laws in ten states to require teaching of the constitution and founding documents in the public schools. He was awarded at the North Carolina Court of Appeals the George Washington Freedom Medal for his legislative efforts.

Today, Donald R. Vaughan is in private practice in Greensboro. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Federal District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. He practices law regularly in North Carolina District and Superior Courts, Federal Court. He is also licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney



Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, is an experienced statesman and lawyer who currently lives and works in Greensboro, North Carolina.

It is easy to see that Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, is a North Carolina man to the core. He was born and raised in Greensboro. His father worked for Western Electric Corporation, an electrical engineering and manufacturing firm based in New York, but with operations in Winston-Salem. Unfortunately, his father died when he was nine years old, and he was raised by his mother as an only child.

From an early age, Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, demonstrated a commitment to bettering himself. He was active in Boy Scouts and rose to the rank of Eagle, the highest rank in scouting. He worked his way through high school as a playground director for the City of Greensboro, and was the captain of his high school tennis team. Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, also held jobs at a department store and at a Greensboro shopping center.

After graduating from Grimsley High School, Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, enrolled in Wake Forest University at Chapel Hill. Wake Forest is one of the nation's most respected universities, recognized for its outstanding academic reputation and challenging liberal arts curriculum. Donald R. Vaughan, Attorney, was the first Wake Forest student to be awarded highest honors in speech in 1974.
